Characters: Sora, Roxas
Rated: G
Comments: For lazzchan ^_^ “Sora!Roxas Twilight Town angst” except the angst sort of went away in favor of hope…oops. haha.

Sora’s fingers trailed down the roughly cut bricks of the train station wall. His head tilted in thought. The station was empty and yet the train had brought him here, to this town where imaginary fingers tugged him down streets that only his heart remembered. He let himself be guided further into the town, pace increasing until he was running, his destination like a string around his wrist, pulling him with certainty toward a back alley.

“This is it, isn’t it?” Sora asked. He didn’t require an answer because he had seen this place before, in Roxas’s dreams. Roxas whispered a quiet affirmation anyway.

Sora smiled and placed a hand over his chest, feeling the steady thump of his heart beneath his palm. Roxas hadn’t wanted to return here-too many hollow memories that insisted on being real.

Did they ever even exist? I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.

“It does,” Sora insisted. Because the heart was the keeper of memories. And Roxas remembered.

A false heart keeps false memories.

Sora shook his head and settled himself in the spot Roxas once sat, his fist curling against his chest. “Our heart,” he said because even though Roxas insisted he was nothing but a shade of Sora, neither of them really believed it.

“Besides,” Sora said with renewed confidence. “I remember them too. I talked to them after I woke up.”

No one’s here.

“Then we’ll just have to wait for them.” Sora crossed his arms, decision made. He could hear Roxas sigh in exasperation.

Sora grinned. He could be patient when he wanted to be. Or when he was winning an argument, even if it was against himself. It was a strange comfort to know that he would never be alone. Roxas would always be a part of him even though their thoughts collided from time to time and their memories twined together, embraced, overlapped. Without Sora, there was no Roxas.

But that was all right because Sora’s heart was big enough for both of them.

The end.
